Efficient bicycle leasing with Cyclis

Early 2020, competence centre [AppFoundry](https://www.appfoundry.be/) was contacted by bicycle leasing pioneer Cyclis. Despite using a comprehensive [ERP](https://www.xploregroup.be/en/services/erp/)/CRM package, the fast-growing scale-up encountered a number of limitations, specifically in terms of [user experience](https://www.xploregroup.be/en/services/user-experience-usability/). The existing all-in-one system, although customised to Cyclis' specific needs, could no longer meet the growing customer-facing requirements. The increased complexity and customisation increased the workload and delayed time-to-market, hindering Cyclis' growth opportunities.

#### **The challenges AppFoundry faced:**

- A complete redesign
- Development of a new comprehensive digital solution
- Deconnecting the front-end experience from the ERP system and redesigning the entire customer experience
- Secure and scalable integration with the existing ERP system
- Creating a stable base for future developments alongside the current ERP system
- Reducing time-to-market for new IT and marketing initiatives

#### **Our solution**

A seamless digital transformation of the existing customer-facing landscape into a customised and scalable solution. This included a series of workshops to define ideas, concepts and technical requirements:

- System redesign
- Implementation of a cloud-native Node.js middleware layer hosted on Microsoft Azure
- Development of three statically generated web applications based on React and Gatsby

Cyclis needed a scalable, comprehensive digital solution to continue its growth.

#### **Our solution**

AppFoundry worken on a complete redesign of the website. In addition, they created an integration with the current ERP system.

#### **Integration**

- Implementation of a cloud-native Node.js middleware layer hosted on Microsoft Azure
- Development of three statically generated web applications based on React and Gatsby

#### **Result**

Our overall approach was particularly appreciated and, moreover, we exceeded Cyclis' expectations. Despite the challenges at the time of Covid-19, the project could be completed almost entirely remotely, without significant impact. The first release was completed within seven months, just in time for further growth.
