Xplore Group builds digital newsstand for Sanoma

Sanoma Media Nederland’s digital newsstand Tijdschrift.nl offers subscribers and single users a unique reading experience. The successful cross-channel digital reading platform was developed by Xplore Group.

Sanoma Media Nederland is a Dutch publisher, offering a leading magazine portfolio. The publisher called on Xplore Group to build a digital newsstand, making available to tablet users a range of more than 150 magazines by some 25 publishers. Since the app’s launch, more than 300.000 digital magazines have been sold.

Xplore Group developed the app Tijdschrift.nl for both iOS and Android. To optimize the user experience, Xplore Group developed a single account that is usable on the desktop website and in the app. Customers can buy magazines through either platform. Subscribers can upgrade their accounts, getting free access to the digital versions of their favourite magazines.

The digital newsstand is based on Intershop and the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. The solution uses Omikron FACT-Finder’s search engine functionality and runs on an Oracle 11g database. Online orders are processed through the integration of the web shop with Sanoma’s SAP platform.
